During the summer of 2017 several members of the Canadian branch of the Plug family embarked on a bicycle and barge tour of the Netherlands.

The bicycle tour (“fietstocht” in Dutch), which began in Amsterdam, wound its way through through historic Leiden, the “duin en bollenstreek” (coastal dunes and tulip bulb growing) region, along the North Sea and across to the IJsselmeer before returning to Amsterdam seven days later.

Netherlands (aka Holland) is not only the “land of the bicycle” but it is also the ancestral homeland for these bicycle tourists.
