Fietstocht Plug 2018

The Highlights of Holland bicycle tour (“fietstocht” in Dutch) was such a good time and such a memorable experience that many of the Plug family members started to discuss the possibility of another Fietstocht for the summer of 2018. A few weeks later the concept of a tour of Southern Ontario (Le Tour de l’Ontario) formed and planning began.

The route will start in Sarnia ON, where the Plug family first established itself in Canada in the summer of 1947.

Along the way the cyclists will visit Cayuga ON where their grandparents/great-grandparents, Pieter Plug and Neeltje Lindhout Plug, lived and operated a family business (Cayuga Florists) for many years.

The route will end in St Catharines ON, the current hometown for many second, third and fourth generation Canadian descendants of Pieter and Neeltje.

FIetstocht Plug 2018 will take place the week of Sunday July 8 and continue through to its conclusion on Saturday July 14.
